At AssetView, we believe your financial data belongs to you—not to us, not to advertisers, not to third parties. This isn't just a policy statement; it's the foundation of everything we build. We've designed AssetView with a privacy-first architecture where your personal investment data is stored locally on your device, encrypted with a passphrase only you control, and protected by rigorous security practices. We don't store your credentials, we don't sell your data, and we only work with Trusted Select Partners named below who share our unwavering commitment to your privacy and security.

Your Personal Investment Data Stays Private
Your personal investment data—including balances, holdings, and transactions—is never shared with third parties, except when you explicitly authorize a person to access your portfolios through AssetView's sharing function or if we are legally compelled (in which case your data remains encrypted by your passphrase that only you know).
Local-First Storage with Encrypted Backups
Personal Investment Data is stored locally on your computer. Backups are stored in AssetView's Cloud and are encrypted during transport and at rest.
Complete Data Deletion Control
AssetView provides a facility within the application to delete a portfolio. If you delete your portfolio, backups in AssetView's cloud will also be deleted. If you use multiple computers, you must delete your portfolio on each computer to ensure complete removal.
No Authentication Credentials Stored
Privacy and security start at the very first touch point. We use Clerk, an industry leader in secured authentication. Your information is communicated directly with Clerk. We support two-factor authentication methods. AssetView never stores your authentication credentials (password, OAuth, secure key).
Your Passphrase is Never Stored
After you authenticate, you set your Passphrase—another layer of security required to open your portfolios. Your passphrase is not stored in AssetView. We automatically generate and provide you with a recovery kit, which is also not stored. Your Personal Investment Data is inaccessible without either your passphrase or your recovery kit.
Personal Data Protection
AssetView may collect data such as your name, device session identifier, actions, pages viewed, and functions used. Personal Data that can identify you directly is used strictly for operations like billing and marketing. Personal Data is encrypted during transport and at rest. Non-Personal Data may be released in aggregate.
Your Rights & Control
You have complete control over your data. Share portfolios with designated users at your discretion and revoke access anytime. When you revoke sharing, users lose access to future updates but retain previously shared data. If your subscription ends, we reserve the right to delete your cloud backups and deactivate third-party connections associated with your account.
Trusted Select Partners
AssetView uses Select Partners because their commitment to privacy and security aligns with our core values, and their technology is industry leading. Select Partners are Plaid (optional connectivity to financial institutions), Stripe (payment processing), and Clerk (authentication). These are independent entities—please review their policies thoroughly.
Plaid Integration (Optional)
If you prefer not to link your institutions, easily enter your accounts and positions directly in AssetView. For automation, connect your brokerage and banking accounts using AssetView's Plaid read-only connector. Your credentials are communicated directly with Plaid. AssetView does not store your financial institution credentials.
Stripe Payment Processing
AssetView uses Stripe for payment processing of your subscription. Your payment information is collected directly by Stripe. AssetView does not store your payment method information. Instead, we store a token from Stripe that enables payment processing.
App Data Security
Apps created by AssetView protect your Personal Investment Data with the same strict standards as the core application. For third-party developer Apps (3PDs), you sign a separate security and privacy agreement directly with the 3PD. No 3PD Apps are installed by default—you choose what to install and when.

Data security is an ongoing commitment. We continuously update our security measures to stay ahead of emerging risks and protect your financial information. We safeguard your data through encryption during transport and at rest, network controls, and regular penetration testing. Our approach and toolset constantly evolve to address the ever-changing dynamics of data security.
